U.S.'s youngest ever World Cup player scores in extra time against Belgium

U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard held Belgium off for 90 minutes with an obscene number of brilliant saves before they finally broke through with two goals in the first period of extra time. The Belgians seemed to have the match all wrapped up when Jurgen Klinsmann used his last substitution to bring on 19-year-old Julian Green, the U.S.'s youngest ever World Cup player, in the 105th minute. And two minutes after entering the match, Green scored to give the U.S. one last slice of hope as they stared elimination in the face.

It was Green's first goal for the U.S. in just his third appearance after choosing to play for the U.S. over Germany in March.

Green was thought to be the man included in the U.S. squad over Landon Donovan. So if there was any lingering doubt about that decision, well, Julian Green says hello.
