The Green Bay Packers don't like to sign many outside free agents but they do take care of their own players, and they took care of receiver Jordy Nelson before the 2014 season starts.
Nelson signed a four-year, $39 million extension that includes an $11.5 million signing bonus according to mulitple reports including NFL Network. That's a fair deal for both sides, and keeps the Packers' most productive receiver in Green Bay for a while.

Nelson had another fine season last year, with 85 catches for 1,314 yards and eight touchdowns. His numbers would have been much higher but quarterback Aaron Rodgers missed most of the second half of the season with a broken collarbone. Nelson has a 15.2-yard career average and is one of the best receivers in the NFL. His deal of a little less than $10 million per year doesn't cripple the Packers, and it gives Nelson a nice bump in pay. He was scheduled to make a little more than $3 million in base salary this season, then could have become a free agent.
Next on the Packers' to-do list is an extension for receiver Randall Cobb, whose rookie contract expires after this season. As Green Bay has shown, it shouldn't be a big problem to retain one of the stars they drafted and developed.
