A 2014 University of Florida sports calendar featuring former Gator star Aaron Hernandez is available for purchase.
According to the University, Florida officials approved the calendar before Hernandez, who played with the Gators from 2007 to 2009, was charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd on June 26, 2013.
Florida spokesman Daniel Apple told the Associated Press that the calendar was printed through a third party and that there’s little the school can do, but the school did contact the supplier to express its displeasure with the product. He also said the school only became aware of the unfortunate misprint on Monday.
Hernandez, the John Mackey Award winner as the nation’s best tight end in 2009, is the picture for July and the calendar can still be purchased through Target.com.
Hernandez also has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder in the drive-by shooting of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges, but remains in jail.
