Larry Fitzgerald becomes youngest ever to catch 900 passes

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald caught the 900th reception of his career — the youngest player in NFL to do so.

He just had to wait a bit for it.

Fitzgerald appeared to catch pass No. 900 in the first quarter on a 27-yard pass from Drew Stanton, but the play was wiped out because of a hold on Cardinals center Lyle Sendlein.

Instead, Fitzgerald hit the mark on a second quarter pass from Stanton, coverting a third down with a 16-yard catch.

With that grab, Fitzgerald, 31, became the youngest player in NFL history by more than a year to reach the 900-catch plateau, breaking the previous mark of the Houston Texans' Andre Johnson, who was 32 when he reached 900. On the next play, Fitzgerald caught pass No. 901.

Fitzgerald ranks 18th all time on the league's receptions list, more than 600 behind leader Jerry Rice (1,549). Only four active players are ahead of Fitzgerald on the list — Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Anquan Boldin and Jason Witten.

Only nine NFL players ever have caught 1,000 or more in their careers.
