West Virginia kicker Josh Lambert is a trooper.
In the third quarter of the Liberty Bowl against Texas A&M, Lambert lined up and hit a 38-yard field goal and then was hit by A&M’s De’Vante Harris. Harris was penalized for roughing the kicker – but it wasn’t any ordinary roughing the kicker penalty.
As you see in the GIF above, Lambert took a shot to a very, very sensitive area.
West Virginia accepted the penalty and hoped to turn it into a touchdown. Instead, just three plays later, Lambert, who was probably not feeling great, came back on the field and hit a 31-yard field goal.
That field goal, Lambert’s third of the day, gave the sophomore an NCAA record for field goal attempts in a season.
The field goal cut Texas A&M’s lead to 38-30.
