Report: Lions suspended Mosley for marijuana, disabling fire alarm in London

Now we know why the Detroit Lions sent defensive tackle C.J. Mosley home from London last weekend.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Mosley was suspended two weeks and shipped back to the States for getting caught with marijuana and attempted to disable a smoke alarm at the team's hotel prior to the game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Mort further reports that the NFLPA will file a grievance on Mosley's behalf because a marijuana violation — at least as far as NFL-related suspensions go — fall under the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement and must go through a different process.

The Lions are on bye this week after beating the Falcons. It's not clear if his suspension includes this week or if he'll be active for the team's Week 10 game against the Miami Doiphins. The Lions sure could use him: With Mosley out and Nick Fairley out for a month or more with a knee injury, they are painfully thin up front.
