Many of us noticed this last night, but we’d forgotten about it until Uproxx reminded us. Perhaps we were affected by the second hand smoke of a Chicago Bulls fan that clearly appears to be vaping some sort of smokable substance during Tuesday night’s Bulls/Nuggets game:
As a Bulls fan and non-smoker, I can still understand the motivation to inhale such a substance after watching Derrick Rose sit out yet another half due to injury.
Recreational marijuana use is legal in Colorado, though the 2012 law passed to legalize the drug prohibits users from smoking in public – similar to open container laws when it comes to beer and liquor. Smoking of any kind, however, is verboten inside Denver’s Pepsi Center, so the “they sell beer at basketball games, maaaaan”-argument is going to miss the mark in this instance. This even goes for e-cigarettes, and it’s even a technical break of the law post-2012.
So, yes, our man was doing something illegal. Big deal. Considering that the people surrounding him were either sad Bulls fans or, um, Colorado natives (sorry, Denver, I know you’re sick of these jokes), nobody seemed to mind.
