Brazil defender David Luiz was initially credited with his first international goal in the 18th minute of a frenetic first half to start the World Cup knockout stage against Chile, but Chile's Gonzalo Jara might have had a helping foot in his side going down 1-0.

The goal came off a corner kick and Jara put up his leg to try and deflect the ball before it reached Luiz. But it ended up in the back of the net and Brazil celebrated an early lead.

In an atmosphere befitting a World Cup final with the pressure of an entire nation focused in on one stadium in Belo Horizonte, this could have easily been an early end for Chile. But in the 32nd minute, Alexis Sanchez capitalized on a mistake from Hulk to score an equalizer and it was again anyone's match for the winning.
