Aaron Rodgers delivers a perfect first half as Packers throttle Bears 55-14

• An express-route-to-Canton quarterback.

• A defense so incompetent it would have fared no better in two-hand touch.

• An opposing quarterback considerate enough to surrender the ball in a variety of new and fascinating ways.

The Green Bay Packers were fortunate enough to enjoy all three benefits listed above, and transformed them into one of the most technically proficient football halves of the entire season en route to a 55-14 victory. Consider: Aaron Rodgers threw six touchdowns in the half, tying an NFL record and just one off the NFL full-game record of seven. Rodgers was 18 of 24 for 315 yards, and helped hang the most points the Bears have ever allowed in a single half.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, meanwhile, looked like a man set adrift in the middle of Lake Michigan. He threw two interceptions and surrendered another fumble, taking two sacks along the way. Cutler, Chicago head coach Marc Trestman, and pretty much everyone else this side of Jim McMahon contributed to this bubbling mess of a game. Chicago, once a dark horse Super Bowl contender, now looks like it'll be lucky to hit .500.

The statistics from this one are flat-out overwhelming, so let's just turn it over to the numbers. Bears fans, you might want to turn away. This will not be safe to read at work or around small children:

Feeling overwhelmed by the stats? Yeah, that's about how the Bears felt on Sunday night. Sorry, Chicago fans. This one might get worse before it gets better.
