Tennessee Titans receiver Justin Hunter says he's not a 'JAG'

There are some in the NFL who believe that supremely talented Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter could become the next Alshon Jeffery. But right now, Hunter is just another guy.

Make that: Just Another Guy, or "JAG" for short.

Hunter ran the wrong route in Saturday's preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt called him out in a subsequent meeting, the Tennessean reported. His punishment? Receivers coach Shawn Jefferson paid a visit to the team's equipment manager, who had the "Hunter" removed from his practice jersey and replaced by "JAG."

"It stands for 'Just Another Guy,'" Hunter said.

As in what Hunter will continue to be if he keeps running the wrong routes. Here's the photo of Hunter:

But he challenges the label and understands that it's a motivational tactic by the coaches.

"The receivers have been talking about that for a minute, since last year, just playing around," Hunter said with a slight grin. "But then coach Whiz said something about it in a meeting … and said, 'Justin, you can be a great player, but after that play, you look like 'Just Another Guy.'"

Jefferson has been brutal on him, Hunter said, to help bring out his greatness.

"He has no remorse for me," Hunter said. "He holds me to the highest standard, so he asked them to put it on my jersey. With Coach Jefferson, it is all the same. I take it all in."

We'll see when Hunter gets his old jersey back. Likely when he gets a new approach.
