Videos: Bears fans burn, bury Jay Cutler jerseys

Cleveland fans famously burned LeBron James jerseys when he spurned the Cavaliers for Miami in 2010, ultimately forgiving the four-time NBA MVP upon his return to the city this summer. Chicago is taking a different approach to Jay Cutler, burning his jersey while he's still the starting quarterback for their Bears.

The Bears sandwiched a pair of blowout losses to the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers around their bye week, becoming the first team since 1923 to allow 50-plus points in successive games, and Cutler is bearing the brunt of the blame, even if they have bigger issues.

This Bears fan, describing himself as "the last Jay Cutler supporter in Chicago" in a fantastic accent, and his son tossed their jerseys into their outdoor fireplace after Sunday's 55-14 loss to the rival Packers.

"I'm burning his jersey, but like Jay Cutler it'll probably won't even burn," he said. "It'll probably just smolder and throw a couple interceptions." Like Chicago's season, though, it did go up in flames.

Indeed, Cutler threw a pair of interceptions against Green Bay, submitting a quarterback rating of 6.0. That marked his third passer rating below 50 in a row. Needless to say, the Bears have lost three straight and five of their last six on the way to a 3-6 start and last place in the NFC North division.

The fan above wasn't the only former Cutler supporter to burn the quarterback's No. 6, as an abandoned half-burnt jersey was found on the streets of Chicago. And these guys are apparently late to the party, since one Bears fan was already burning Cutler-wear in December of last season.

One more of Chicago's faithful took a more even-headed approach, burying his Cutler jersey along with five others until the Bears reach a playoff game — a feat that hasn't been repeated since 2010.

He summed the year up nicely, saying, "This is me, a diehard Chicago Bears fan from Elkhart, Indiana, who has worshiped the Chicago Bears for his entire life, burying and disowning almost all of his Chicago Bears possessions for the sake of the fact that the Bears are just intolerably horrible this season."
