Todd Gurley reportedly tears left ACL

It looks like Georgia running back Todd Gurley's season, and possibly his college career, is over.

Gurley reportedly tore the ACL in his left knee during Georgia's win over Auburn on Saturday. Gurley went down on a carry in the fourth quarter and didn't return. It was a non-contact injury. Gurley planted his foot and tumbled to the ground in pain. Multiple outlets are reporting the news, including UGASports.com.

The game against Auburn was Gurley's first game back after serving a four-game suspension for accepting money for his autograph. Gurley reportedly took over $3,000 to sign memorabilia, a violation of NCAA rules.

Against Auburn, Gurley had 29 carries for 138 yards and a touchdown. He also had a kick return for a touchdown in the first quarter that was called back because of a holding penalty. He'll finish the season with 911 yards and nine touchdowns.

Gurley was suspended before Georgia's game against Missouri in October and missed games against Arkansas, Florida and Kentucky as well.

A junior, Gurley is eligible to enter the NFL draft after the 2014 season and given the injury risks for running backs as well as what transpired throughout 2014, it's a strong possibility he'll declare for the draft despite the injury.

By coming back in 2015, Gurley's draft stock could take a hit with another injury or a poor season. While running backs aren't drafted as highly as they used to be in the NFL, Gurley's best decision is to likely forego his senior season and play in the NFL in 2015.

Gurley will be replaced, again, in Georgia's lineup by freshman Nick Chubb. Chubb had 19 carries for 144 yards and two touchdowns against Auburn and has 1,039 yards this season and nine touchdowns.
