In just their third year of existence, Western Sydney Wanderers are now the first Australian club to ever win the AFC Champions League, beating Al-Hilal in the final. After taking a 1-0 lead in the first leg, the A-League club traveled to Saudi Arabia along with the 14 fans who were allowed to enter the country (including just one woman), where a 0-0 draw with the two-time AFC Champions League winners was enough to seal the historic title. Al-Hilal striker Nasser Al-Shamrani did not handle the loss gracefully.
In the final minute of the second leg, Al-Shamrani headbutted Wanderers defender Matthew Spiranovic and after the visitors sealed the title, he spit at Spiranovic while sitting on the pitch. This sparked a stand-off between the two sides and Al-Shamrani tried his best to escalate it even further by chasing his target down.
Poor sportsmanship couldn't put a damper on Western Sydney's celebrations, though. The celebration in the New South Wales capital was downright volcanic.
