Jerry Jones has Tony Romo's future figured out, including for Sunday

You got the sense that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was relaying quarterback Tony Romo's job interview answer to, "Where do you see yourself Sunday? Three years from now? Five years from now?"

Sunday? Starting against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, despite two fractures in his back.

"I’m anticipating him playing,’’ Jones said to the Cowboys beat writers, via the Dallas Morning News. “I have no reason to think that he won’t.

“Anytime he can play, we want him to play. We’re a better team, to be trite, with him playing. There’s no such thing as holding him out and foregoing the potential chance that we win.’’

Romo practiced on Thursday, which probably means Jones is right. Romo was a little more cautious when he spoke before practice.

"We'll see," Romo said, via ESPN.com. "I think we'll take it day by day and see what happens as we move closer. It's improving each day. We did some things today that were a positive. If it keeps going in that direction, we'll have a good chance."

Beyond Sunday? Jones isn't worried that the 34-year-old Romo is nearing the end, even with his back issues. Jones said he's not worried about Romo's back affecting him long term.

"I think Tony Romo has at least five years,’’ Jones said, according to the Dallas Morning News. “I’m planning on him at least five years of playing at a level that would allow us to be a possible contender.’’

And then, when Romo retires at age 39 or later (according to Jones' blueprint), he'll be ready to step into the next part of his career.

“He has aspirations and stated to me of potentially being an offensive coordinator in the NFL when he grows up,’’ Jones said, according to the Dallas Morning News. “He has great ideas and very sound ideas.’’

So there you have it, we have Romo's plans for the immediate and also long-term future. Hopefully Romo agrees with everything on Jones' list.
