Evan Turner has a pretty great 'E.T.'-themed chain (Photo)

It's unlikely that we'll ever see a piece of NBA jewelry quite as personalized, hilarious and remarkable as Marquis Daniels' jeweled-Marquis-Daniels'-head necklace, but we all owe Boston Celtics swingman Evan Turner a debt of gratitude for trying:

Yep, that's an "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial"-themed piece on Turner's gold chain, as captured by MassLive.com's Jay King. The explanation for the medallion — which the former Philadelphia 76ers lottery pick had made by a jeweler in the City of Brotherly Love and which, apologies to Luda, doesn't boast a reckless amount of diamonds, but does allow Turner to say he feels like an alien and a 10-year-old are hanging from his necklace — is exactly as fun as you'd expect it to be:

"[The first piece Turner commissioned] came out looking too girly, so I gave it to my mom. So I was like, I've gotta make something for me. And the E.T. theme was dope, and I was like, I think this would be definitely dope. It kind of shows my personality too with it, so I like it. It will be a family heirloom."

Congratulations to Evan Turner's children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whose names we now must assume will have to start with E, on inheriting this touching reminder of a film released six years before their progenitor was born that was based on an imaginary friend Steven Spielberg created after his parents divorced. Truly beautiful stuff.

We're not sure how much Turner forked over for his extraterrestrial accessory, and it'd be impolite to ask, but we're hopeful that he has invested heavily in securing it. We've seen too many instances of NBA players' baubles getting burgled recently, and we wouldn't want to see the same fate befall the Celtics guard. I mean, Etan Thomas is a man of peace, but surely there are other initial-alike folks in the world who could get a glimpse of Turner's gold and decide to get their Killer Mike and El-P on.

Hat-tip to Red's Army.
