Rory McIlroy rolls in lengthy eagle putt on his ninth hole of the day on Friday at Valhalla

Golf is pretty simple for Rory McIlroy right now. The kid has had his bad swings, more this week than his previous two, but he tends to brush those off and attack the holes following his bogeys.

That happened during his second round at the PGA Championship, when McIlroy made an early bogey on his third hole, the par-4 12th, only to follow it up with birdies on Nos. 13 and 15, and then he got to the par-5 18th.

On Thursday, Rory nearly closed his round here with an eagle, with his putt just sliding by the edge, but that wasn't the case on Friday when he slammed his lengthy eagle putt in the back of the cup to make the turn at 3-under and 8-under for the championship.

McIlroy hasn't been as sharp on his second nine so far, but that eagle will go a long way for a man seeking his third straight win and second major of 2014.
