Louis van Gaal picks up where David Moyes left off, internet rejoices

Proving that it's impossible to be focused on the first match of the Premier League season after winning the International Champions Cup, Louis van Gaal's Manchester United started the new season with a 2-1 loss to Swansea at Old Trafford. This is the first time Man United have done that since 1972.

Under David Moyes last season Man United made a habit of notching unfortunate club records and rarities (even he beat Swansea 4-1 to start last season, though), so this loss proves that Van Gaal won't magically turn them around merely on reputation and fawning preseason praise alone. This did, however, provide the internet with a chance to compare Van Gaal to Moyes in the most unflattering way possible. And this is the kind of chance that the internet does not pass up.

Meanwhile, on Wikipedia, Van Gaal's name was changed to "David Moyes II"...

Though the jokes are easy, it was only one match and Man United were at less than full strength with the likes of Luke Shaw and Robin van Persie unable to play. Even with this result, it will be difficult for Van Gaal to do as poorly as Moyes last season. But for now, David Moyes isn't feeling quite so bad about himself.
