NASCAR denies Kurt Busch appeal

(Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports) DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - NASCAR has denied Kurt Busch's initial appeal for reinstatement from the suspension handed down Friday afternoon.

Busch had appealed the indefinite suspension NASCAR had levied after further revelations of details about Busch's alleged domestic violence incident at Dover last September. Buch had spent several hours in front of NASCAR's three-person appeals board.

The hearing was held at NASCAR's headquarters, just across Speedway Boulevard from Daytona International Speedway, where cars were qualifying for Saturday's Xfinity race. A few supporters of Busch stood around outside the building holding signs. Busch climbed into a black SUV and left without speaking.

The three-person panel included Paul Brooks, Lynn St. James, and Kevin Whitaker. Busch has the right to appeal the decision to NASCAR's final appeals panel.
