The 10-man rotation, starring DeMarcus Cousins' decision to accept the responsibility of leadership

A look around the league and the Web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out.

C: Sacramento Bee. DeMarcus Cousins tells Jason Jones that his commitment to getting no more than five technical fouls this season is about more than just avoiding suspensions and fines: "I know I’m not perfect and I probably never will be, but I’m aiming to be the best leader I can be for this team.”

PF: 8 Points, 9 Seconds. Jared Wade on David West, now facing the beginning of the end on a doomed team, but determined to do his professional damnedest to keep the Indiana Pacers worthy of respect and fear.

SF: CelticsBlog. Rather than offer mere knee-jerk anger at Jeff Green saying "blogs suck" in response to posts about his inconsistency, Jeff Clark takes a second to consider the often-overlooked human element in the relationship between players and fans: "All I want is for Jeff Green to be the best Jeff Green he can be. In turn, I'll try to be the best Jeff Clark I can be."

SG: Sports Illustrated. Sports law expert Michael McCann digs into the collective bargaining agreement and finds plenty of reasons why it's unlikely that we'll see any substantive changes to the league's domestic violence policies any time soon.

PG: Arizona Republic. With Eric Bledsoe back, Isaiah Thomas added and Goran Dragic still around, Jeff Hornacek wants his Phoenix Suns to play even faster this year than they did last season, when they finished eighth in the NBA in pace.

6th: Daily Thunder. Royce Young considers Oklahoma City Thunder supersub Reggie Jackson's stated desire to start, the challenge of both accepting a role and convincing a young player to do so, and whether "starting and his future with the Thunder are mutually exclusive."

7th: SB Nation. Ricky O'Donnell on the differences between this Derrick Rose and the one who won the 2010-11 NBA MVP, and what Tom Thibodeau hopes to see from his point guard upon his second attempted return to the Chicago Bulls: "All he has to be is the best he can be."

8th: USA TODAY Sports. Jeff Zillgitt sits down with Lauren Holtkamp — whom you might remember from the CBS documentary "Summer Dreams" — to discuss her recent hiring as the third full-time female official in NBA history: "Part of the satisfaction of earning this opportunity has to do with the fact that I've been able to stay committed to the work and put the work first and trust the system and that's what matters."

9th: Bleacher Report. Jared Zwerling talks with DeAndre Jordan about what he learned in taking a primary defensive role on the Los Angeles Clippers last year, the importance of back-line communication and what he's looking for when he rises up for a swat: "What I really want to do [on a block] is not only keep the ball in play, but block the ball far enough to where I know Chris, Matt Barnes or even Blake Griffin can grab it, run the court and get us a bucket."

10th: Box Score Geeks. An interesting look at how wildly distributions of minutes can vary from year-to-year, and how that can make projecting playing time awful tough from one season to the next.
