It was an odd sight on the Seattle Seahawks' opening drive of Monday night's game against the Washington Redskins: no Marshawn Lynch on the field.
In the Seahawks' six-play touchdown drive to open the game, Robert Turbin — Lynch's typical backup — was the back on the field. He ran the ball one time for five yards.
The odder part: Apparently nothing was wrong with Lynch. He just wasn't out there.
So it wasn't a pre-game injury, or a disciplinary matter, evidently. Still ... odd.
Lynch entered the game on the second play of the Seahawks' second drive. He ripped off a gorgeous run and appeared fine doing so, but the play was called back because of a holding call.
During the ESPN broadcast, sideline reporter Lisa Salters said Lynch was riding the stationary bike and had trainers applying heat to his back. Salters said Lynch also was stretching his hamstring right before the start of the game.
We'll keep monitoring the situation.
