Just five days after Manchester United fans commissioned a plane to fly a "Come home Ronaldo" banner over Real Madrid's match at Villarreal, it has been revealed that Portugal will play Argentina in an international friendly at Old Trafford on November 18. Coincidence? Of course not. This could very well be the first step in an elaborate plot to entrap Cristiano Ronaldo and keep him in Manchester forever, whether he wants to be there or not.
Though Ronaldo always speaks fondly of his time in Manchester, he recently declared that his "future is in Madrid" and he is "happy" there despite a blizzard of rumors linking him to a Man United return. And now we have a friendly at Old Trafford scheduled for November between Ronaldo's Portugal and Lionel Messi's Argentina.
Of course, it's not guaranteed that Ronaldo will be in Portugal's squad for the match, but if he is, Manchester United just might have a professional hypnotist on hand who could plant the desperate craving to return to the club in his subconscious. Man United chief executive Ed Woodward might also be reading a book on Stockholm syndrome right now, as well.
To be clear, a well respected club like Manchester United would never resort to nefarious methods in order to bring Ronaldo back against his will in their time of need. But if Cristiano Ronaldo just happens to disappear during this international date and Manchester United announce the signing of his lesser known twin brother Barry Ronaldo shortly after, be suspicious is all I'm saying.
