Tim Brando hired by Fox for college football and basketball coverage

After leaving CBS in January, Tim Brando is going to Fox Sports.

The network announced Wednesday that Brando would be joining the company's college football and basketball coverage.

"Tim is one of the most recognized voices in college sports," Fox Sports Executive Producer John Entz said in a statement. "Adding someone with his experience and credibility to our college football and basketball coverage is a fantastic addition for Fox Sports."

It's a turnabout for Brando. He posted to Facebook earlier in June that he had verbally agreed to join the SEC Network as was reported by ESPN. The move to the move to the SEC Network made sense; Brando was the host of the studio show for CBS's weekly SEC telecast for 16 years.

But on Wednesday he said on Facebook that he was moving to Fox to call college football. Any SEC network deal would have been for only basketball. In addition to his college football duties for CBS, he also called NCAA Tournament games.

"So excited to have joined the Fox Sports team at FOX & FOXSports1, covering CFB weekly in the BIG12 & PAC12 plus the BIG EAST & others in College Basketball. Many thanks to their leadership, John Entz & Eric Shanks, along with their many reliable professionals in production & on air talent for already welcoming me.

As many of you know ESPN broke a story a few weeks ago about a potential agreement between the SEC Network and yours truly. While I value their interest and wish them well, Football was never part of their short term vision for my future. I want to thank them and the SEC for their interest and wish them nothing but the best."

And because he's heading to Fox, he won't be calling any SEC college football. Fox's football contracts cover the Big 12, Conference USA and Pac-12 and the Big Ten title game.
