Edin Dzeko gets first World Cup goal against Iran, no offsides called

This time, there was no doubt.

Bosnia-Herzegovina's Edin Dzeko was on the raw end of the worst officiating call of the World Cup to date, a goal called back because of an incorrect offsides call against Nigeria last week. But on Wednesday against Iran, Dzeko fired another strike from even farther out, and this time, there was no doubt and no flag. Dzeko's goal in the 24th minute put Bosnia ahead of Iran 1-0.

Dzeko, the Machester City star, is part of the first World Cup team ever fielded by Bosnia-Herzegovina. The team was eliminated from World Cup play after its second match, in part because of the controversial officiating, but as Dzeko showed, pride alone is still enough to drive a team forward.
