Texas S Josh Turner still part of the team

Josh Turner has not been dismissed from Texas' football team.

On Friday, it was reported that Turner was one of four Longhorns dismissed by coach Charlie Strong. However Turner hadn't apparently had the chance to meet with Strong and on Wednesday, Orangebloods.com reported that Turner was still part of the team.

"He's grateful to be part of the program, to have the opportunity to finish his degree. He's close to getting his degree and he's very happy about that," Kevin Cox, a former high school football coach of Turner's told Orangebloods. "He's excited about having the chance to better himself as a person and a student.

"He's still on the team and he's very thankful that things turned out the way they have."

A senior in 2014, Turner was set to start at safety for Texas. He had 37 tackles in 12 games last season.

RB Joe Bergeron was one of the players dismissed from the team last week and he's received his unconditional release from the school. According to Orangebloods, Bergeron attempted to appeal his dismissal from the school and the appeal was denied.
