Florida State is the biggest favorite to win its conference title

Not surprisingly, the biggest favorite to win a conference title in 2014 is Florida State.

According to Bovada, the defending national champs are 4/11 favorites to win the ACC title. It's the strongest odds of any power-conference team and there's no other ACC team close. Clemson, Louisville and North Carolina are tied for second-favorites in the ACC at 10/1. (If you bet $11 on Florida State, you'd win $4.)

The usual suspects are at the top of the other conferences as well. Alabama is the favorite in the SEC at 7/5, while Auburn and South Carolina are at 5/1. In the Pac-12, Oregon is at 11/10 while UCLA is at 11/4. Ohio State leads the Big Ten at 10/11 with Michigan State second at 15/4. Oklahoma is the favorite in the Big 12 at 2/3 and Baylor is second at 11/4.

The odds are based off not only the perceived strength of the teams heading into 2014 but also on betting patterns. It's why the odds for Florida and Texas A&M in the SEC are really low. The Gators are listed as the fifth-favorites to win the SEC at 12/1 while A&M is seventh at 25/1. For comparison's sake, Missouri, the defending SEC East champions, are at 40/1 to win the SEC and tied with Mississippi State.

Some other notes:

• Duke, one of the preseason favorites to win the ACC Coastal Division, is fourth to win the Coastal at 7/1. Much better value there than North Carolina at 8/5 or Miami and Virginia Tech at 3/1.

• Michigan is fifth in the Big Ten at 9/1, but it's in the same division as both Ohio State and Michigan State, the top two favorites.

• Texas is listed at third in the Big 12 at 7/1, ahead of both Kansas State and Oklahoma State at 10/1.

• The most overrated team in the Big 12 is TCU. The Horned Frogs are at 14/1 while Texas Tech is listed at 28/1.

• The Pac-12 is the most wide-open conference. USC Is third at 5/1 while Stanford is fourth at 6/1. Oregon State is eighth-best to win the league at 33/1.

• The longest-shot of any team to win its conference? That'd be Purdue in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers are listed at 300/1. Eight other teams in power conferences (Boston College, Wake Forest, Illinois, Rutgers, California, Colorado, Kentucky and Vanderbilt) are at 200/1.
