Oh, recruiting. You are so weird.
Deondre Francois, the top dual-threat quarterback in the country according to Rivals.com, tweeted Thursday afternoon that he decommitted from Florida State. However, a few minutes later, Francois mysteriously deleted the tweet and left Seminoles fans scratching their heads.
Things got weirder when an assistant at Francois’ school, IMG Academy, told a reporter, Jacksonville.com’s Richard Johnson, that Francois did indeed decommit from FSU. The tweet with that news soon disappeared too when Johnson reached out to IMG Academy head coach Chris Weinke (yes, that Chris Weinke).
And then after all of that, nearly three hours after Francois’ initial tweet, the quarterback re-affirmed his commitment to the Seminoles and said his account was hacked.
Ah, that notorious Twitter hacker strikes again.
Francois is the No. 39 rated player in the class of 2015, so it would have been a big loss for Florida State’s class.
As it currently stands, the Seminoles’ class is ranked No. 4 in the country by Rivals behind Clemson, USC and Alabama. Of course, those rankings can always change as the recruiting cycle comes to a close with National Signing Day on Wednesday.
