Stay classy, Chicago: Bears fans cheer announcement of Conte injury

CHICAGO — The Chicago Bears might have brought out the worst in their fans this season, but they took it too far on Thursday night.

Bears safety Chris Conte suffered a back injury in the game and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest. It was just the latest in a brutal season of wear and tear for the much-maligned safety.

And for some reason, Bears fans have annointed Conte the antichrist. Is he a good football player? No, and Thursday's game against the Dallas Cowboys — before Conte got hurt — was pretty good evidence of that.

But some Bears fans sunk to a new low during the game when they cheered lustily when it was announced at Soldier Field that Conte was done for the game.

Seriously. They cheered a battered man suffering yet another injury, not to mention the multiple concussions he has been through in his relatively brief career.

Might want to reassess your priorities in life if you were one of the tools who was booing Conte getting hurt.
