Former Virginia starting quarterback David Watford has decided to transfer.
Watford, who graduates in December, was granted his release so he could find a new school where he could finish his eligibility immediately.
Watford was Virginia’s starting quarterback in 2013, but was passed on the depth chart this season by redshirt sophomores Greyson Lambert and Matt Johns.
Watford was 2-10 as a starter last year and threw for 2,202 yards, eight touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
He appeared in just four games this season, including two as a wide receiver while the Cavaliers struggled with depth due to injuries.
