Levi is 28 months old. He recently dictated a letter to Santa Claus to his father, and hounded his father to help him compose another letter to a jolly man in a red suit: P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens.
One night Levi grabbed his Habs jersey and began saying all the things about Subban, which are going to make you feel all the feels. Someone get this young man a ticket to Bell Centre and the pregame hug he’s asking for! It’s all he wants for Christmas, people!
But while Levi’s adorable kid-speak about racing Subban on the ice and winning the Stanley Cup are great, the real highlight of this video is the simmer disappointment in his father’s voice.
You see, Levi is wearing blue pajamas that he thinks are a Vancouver Canucks jersey. In fact, he self-identifies as a Canucks fan, telling his father he’s with the blue team. That’s because his mother is a Canucks fan, despite what must be incessant proselytizing by his father. (“Hey, how about instead of watching Caillou we watch the Best of Guy Lafleur again, huh champ?”)
Again, this is why that meeting with Subban is so essential. He’s two years old. There’s still time to save him from a lifetime of unending frustration as a Canucks fan. Hell, it’s almost a civic duty, P.K.
By the way, we highly recommend this New Yorker feature on Subban, on the heels of Michael Farber’s awesome (though poorly promoted by his publication) piece on P.K. as well.
